Digital Social Responsibility and The Great Debate

After debate:
Technology is a part of every aspect of life in today's world thus, every environment is one where technology topics can be presented, taught and learned.  Preparation and precaution is integral however, because access to technology presents many dangers to people of every walk of life.  We as teachers have a huge responsibility to students as those passing through our classroom will change the world.  We have to give our students access to the world they live in and equip them with the tools they need to be successful.

SkypeEducation is a resource that can be used to promote Global digital citizenship.  Planning and preparation is key to its successful use.

Teachertube has already been filtered for student safety and has been sorted by grade level for appropriateness.  Safeguard is a resource that can be used to block advertisements and inappropriate content.  

Keep an ongoing conversation about the dangers and benefits of technology and digital use it the classroom.  The dialogue itself fosters information and education for our students when navigating technology on their own, and presents the opportunity to guide students when they have questions. 

Prior to debate:
This class period has left me feeling lost and confused.  I am having trouble making connections to my topic of social responsibility and how it is different than the other three topics for debate.  If my position is a counter position to one of the other topics for debate, I am not sure which it is as they all seem to be arguing the same ideas.
